COVID-19 ‘PASSPORT/DIGITAL HEALTH CERTIFICATES’

Today (28/4/21) Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed that the NHS App will be used as a ‘Covid passport/digital health certificate’ to prove whether people have had a COVID vaccination, or tested negative for Coronavirus, before travelling abroad.

We continue to receive a number of enquiries from patients regarding the importance of the COVID-19 vaccination card as a ‘Covid passport’ with patients contacting us regarding misplaced/lost cards and concerns that the card may be important for travel.

We would like to reassure all our patients the COVID-19 vaccination cards do not contain secure, personal information relating to the individual patient: quite simply anyone could write/amend the details. The card only contains space for the vaccine name, batch and date. The card does not contain personal patient details. If patients have been vaccinated, all details are contained on their medical records.

You may wish to download the NHS App which enables you to access your digital medical record – including details of immunisations such as the Covid-19 vaccination – as well as offering health advice and allowing you to order repeat prescriptions. Alternatively, if you have registered for Patient Access, you will also be able to view your medical records.

Any patient still wishing to receive a COVID-19 vaccination card when they attend their vaccine appointment will be given one, however, for those who have lost or did not receive a card, please be assured that all details of your immunisations are contained on your personal, medical records.
